Values

Vision

The Q&DCDC envisions a world where every person is respected and accepted for their unique individuality, living and contributing to their full potential.

Mission

The Q&DCDC’s mission is to help pregnant women, new mothers, children, youth, and families discover their potential.  Our work supports our clients to bring this potential into the world using a family-centered model which acknowledges and respects each individual.

Philosophy

Our work is guided by our beliefs that:

  • Children who require extra support are entitled to evidence-based, quality programs of intervention which facilitate physical, social-emotional, communicative and intellectual development.
  • Women in the peri-natal period who seek extra support are entitled to evidence-based quality programs that promote the health and wellbeing of mother and baby, improve birth outcomes, and support the development of early parenting skills and parent-child attachment.
  • Effective service must focus on our clients within the context of the family and community.
  • We must advocate for and educate families and the community.
  • Programs must incorporate best practices to focus on healthy choices and early recognition and intervention aimed at reducing the effects of disability and risks for developmental delay.
  • Programs must be readily accessible and developed to meet the individual needs of the client and family.
  • Services must be delivered through a collaborative and multi-disciplinary team effort, which includes clients, families, and professionals working in an atmosphere of equality and mutual respect.
  • Awareness and understanding of the services necessary for clients and their families to live to their full potential must be promoted.
